Ceramics:
During my free time I enjoy getting artsy-crafty and cleaning, firing, and decorating ceramics. We have won some ribbons for our work like for this family of bears shown above. We do a variety of techniques, but we do lean toward bears and bunnies and other cute stuff. Here is a link to Ceramics Unlimited, the studio where we work and learn.
Country-Western Dancing:
One of my greatest passions is for country-western dancing. I have been dancing for about seven years now. I learned at lessons given in a North Hollywood bar and have continued. It is a great way to meet people and I count it as part of my aerobics (especially some of the line dances.)

I started just because it sounded interesting, but I continue because I really love it. As I was growing up (60's & 70's), none of the dances had steps... you just sort of wiggled and gyrated. I really like having steps to do and moves to accomplish.
Calvin and Hobbes:
I like these guys, especially Hobbes. Hobbes is dancing here... I think. They manage to incorporate some science into their lives.. . here, for instance, Calvin is studying the buoyancy of the balloon. Calvin is that sort of kid who keeps you honest about what students are really like. If you can reach the Calvin's in your classroom... you have really succeeded. You can visit the Calvin and Hobbes site.
Pinky and the Brain:
I relate best with Pinky.
He is thrilled with all sorts of simple things... being simple himself! He's loyal, he's easy to get along with and he's child-like. These are qualities I admire... This Pinky and the Brain site has lots of graphics and sound files.
Nick Park's Wallace and Gromit:
If you don't know who Wallace and Gromit are, you are missing some terrific shows. Academy Award winning Nick Park has produced three glimpses into their life so far...
A Grand Day Out
where Wallace and Gromit go in search of a cheese holiday... to the moon!
The Wrong Trousers
a film noir claymation where Wallace and Gromit encounter Feathers McGraw
A Close Shave
love, danger, and a little black sheep named Shaun

I've seen them on PBS, but you can rent or buy the videos and even purchase them on DVD. Here is a web site to get you started... Aardman Animations.
